Partnering For Social Mobility:

Creating Equal Opportunities For All

At TEKSHAQQ, we believe that where you start in life should not define where you reach. Social mobility is about breaking down barriers so that everyone, regardless of their background, can achieve their full potential.

Yet for many in underserved and underrepresented communities, the path to success is filled with obstacles – limited access to information, confidence gaps, and systemic inequalities.

Our mission is to bridge these gaps by equipping individuals with the digital skills, digital confidence, and networks needed to thrive in today’s digital world. Through our innovative programmes and partnerships, we are empowering people to rewrite their stories, achieve career success, and transform their lives. We invite you to partner with us on this mission.

What is Social Mobility?

The Social Mobility Commission (2024a) says that “A person experiences social mobility when they have different life outcomes from their parents, for example, in income, occupation, housing, education or wealth.”

Social mobility is about creating the opportunity for individuals to improve their social and economic status through education, career growth, and life changes. It is not about a select few achieving extraordinary success; it is about ensuring that everyone has access to the resources, support, and pathways needed to move forward from where they started in life.

For many, however, social mobility is still out of reach. Systemic inequalities, generational poverty, and limited access to education and technology often hold people back, particularly in underserved communities.

Why Social Mobility Matters – And Why It is a Smart Investment
  • 12% Pay Gap: Professionals from working-class backgrounds earn an average of £6,287 less per year than more privileged peers in the same job roles. (Social Mobility Commission, 2023)
  • Same Degree, Different Pay: Young adults from professional families earn 13% more per hour than peers from working-class backgrounds, even when they have the same qualifications. (Social Mobility Commission, 2024)
  • Economic Opportunity: Boosting social mobility could unlock £19 billion annually in GDP growth (Butler, 2024).

How TEKSHAQQ Promotes Social Mobility

We have developed a unique framework to tackle the social mobility challenge:

1. Awareness: Raising awareness of career opportunities in tech and beyond, busting myths, and inspiring confidence.

2. Representation: Showcasing diverse success stories to help individuals see what is possible for them.

3. Immersion: Providing hands-on experiences, workshops, and real-world exposure to build skills and open pathways.

4. Support: Linking participants with mentors, training programmes, and resources for sustained success.

5. Empowerment: Building the mindset and confidence necessary for long-term career and life success.

We focus on supporting individuals who often fall through the cracks of traditional career services, including:

  • Ethnic minorities
  • Those from low socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Mature adults
  • Women
  • People with disabilities
  • Immigrants
  • Individuals with experience of the care or criminal justice systems

Our approach ensures that participants leave with not only skills but also the motivation and belief in their ability to succeed.
